Students must pass these exams as part of their graduation requirements.  See APS or NM PED websites for specific scores needed in subject areas and information on Alternative Demonstrations of Competency.

*Fee Waivers are available for the ACT, SAT, and AP exams for students who qualify for Free/Reduced lunch.  Exam prices are subject to change.

PSAT/NMSQT:The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT®. It also gives you a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.

ACT: The ACT is designed to assess your academic readiness for college and required for admission to colleges and universities and accepted at all New Mexico schools.

SAT Subject Tests: The SAT Subject Tests are a suite of tools designed to assess your academic readiness for college – college admission test preferred by some out-of-state colleges and universities.

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB): The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world. As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB also provides you with career information for various civilian and military occupations and is an indicator for success in future endeavors whether you choose to go to college, vocational school, or a military career.

Advanced Placement Exams: The AP Exams are administered each year in May and represent the culmination of college-level work in a given discipline in a secondary school setting. Rigorously developed by committees of college and AP high school faculty, the AP Exams test students' ability to perform at a college level.  AP exams may result in college credit and advanced placement in the college program, depending on the student’s scores and the each college’s specific policy.

Accuplacer: Exams in reading, English and math that determine course placement at CNM and UNM.
